STAINLESS SOUL

'Evermore" the little dollarstore skull dances
red plastic stones for eyes
glowing hot like the tail lights
smeary glittering in the rain
the fabric roof thudding with
the steady drops
a wiper motor clunks
the great chromed arms
shunting back and forth
like a loom weaving sadness

creaking shifting on the
leather
as loud and worn as
this weather
she huddles away
cuddled to the heater
blowing warmth like
care
the great hood
ragged and beaten
the engine sucks up
the oil eaten
the plume trail
down the state highway
the valleys rumbling
with its stacatto
passing

but now
shes purring
hitching on the one
cylinder..number four

the rings glitter like
the eyes
opulent and green
tender tinged
with malice
a broken and
hardened Alice
stilletto like an awl
scratches her sweet
short name on the
dashboard
sniffing and talking
low

the radios green
light crackles through
the speakers
droning through the
steady rush of rain
while the ragtop fills
up with humidity
like damp pain

we talk
she turns
hair framed
by the light
like an angel
aurora
a smile tilted
up

lightening flashs
like a photobooth
gleam
and we smile
we can make
it the rest of the miles

A great write as usual and it is good to have an artist of words here to make others think more.
