The Star

it is a beacon
in its dazzling gown
harbored in its home
designed millions
perhaps billions
of years ago
I reach to tap it with
the tip of my finger in the
naive hope that it will slightly sway
but it is far beyond my curiosity
reminding me just how small I am
reminding me that the diminutive dust
that sometimes rises from my brow
belongs to its brethren and I
have no greater purpose but
to stand here beneath its splendor
and make a humble wish for
Peace on Earth

Beautiful

We are small. I believe Carl Sagan said, “for small creatures such as we, the vastness is bearable only through love.” For a scientist he sure was one fine poet, as are you.

As seasonable...

a wish as any I've heard yet. What a wonderful gift that would be. Thank you, Lavender, we accept your wish and wish it too. ~ Geez.

Simple and beautiful

How many times we have stood and wished upon a star or simply enjoyed its sparkle! Well done!

I am doing ok

My apologies for being a little quite on the site. It has been a long couple of weeks full of sickness, dental issues etc. This is the first chance I have had to browse the Stream in quite a while. Hope you are enjoying the Holiday season.

This is so deep. So sad

This is so deep. So sad but also optimistic at the same time. Which makes it great. I find it so scary looking up at the stars but so amazing. I swear most people just go about their lives not thinking about this stuff. Don't get it. How can one not think about the universe and look up.

Hello, Michael,

There are no words for our amazing universe and beyond. I agree, thinking about it puts our lives into perspective. Thank you for reading!
