Mowing the lawn
Something in the bottom of the little finger
Of the left hand glove
Keeps stinging like a bee

Turn it inside out and there’s nothing to see
What does this mean?

Not everything is message or metaphor
Nor each passing thought
A reliable or worthy prompt to put
Pen to paper
Fingers to keyboard
To see where it may lead

Nagging thoughts flood no matter
What’s the use of trying to shut them out

And how ridiculous
Anti-free thought and inspiration
Stifling of imagination
Would such a thought process be

So let it go
Don’t artificially try to interrupt the flow
Of whatever comes to mind

Time is always short
And even just sitting on the porch
May lead to a land not yet conceived

Hello, Richard,
I sense both the feeling that everything has meaning, no matter how simple, and that not everything needs to have a magnificent purpose, but is still significant in its way. I especially enjoyed the final stanza.
Thank you!
