The Sum of His Parts
Now’s the time for firm resolve
Around a tender heart
A former life asunder goes
Pulled and ripped apart
When the loathing loses clout
Self returns with time
The glow of former comfort zones
Now darkens and confines
Surrender to quintessence now
Watch the fortune come
Made whole, the parts congruent
Are greater than the sum

Hi, Tim,
This feels like a spiritual journey within, examining growth from a starting point from the past. The final two lines are very moving, and bring the poem to a feeling of resolve.

You’re correct
Most of my writing is about exact thing. I had a bit of an identity crisis a few years back. Starting with Covid and then sorta just snowballed into a little pail of misery I was carrying around. I got some help in the form of therapy, the best wife, and as I let go of a lot of dark things I was holding onto, I started to find a new path was there. I really compartmentalized a lot of who I was based on where the external validations were coming from. I was missing really fundamental parts of my core being. As I continue to gain more awareness these parts that were kept hidden are starting to come together again and work together instead of fighting each other. Head and heart are congruent. When we exist in this space things start to happen without us trying so hard. Like, everyone I’ve met here, 4 new songs so far in 6 months time. One of them already released. All the greatest bits of me are being utilized and it makes me feel whole again
