Sunday Evening

Sunday evening.

Whatever should a person do
to enlighten the evening's
unenlightened mood?

It dangles in the air
after the first sigh on Friday,
and the last laugh on Saturday,
not knowing if it is welcome
or abhhored...

like that silver balloon
caught in the reception hall rafters
from a wedding two weeks ago.

Yes...

one should wonder about Sunday, is it a day of rest, doing nothing or maybe a day of doing what a person feels like doing? Myself, I think that Sunday should be a day of doing whatever it takes to relax you and get up the energy to deal with the next week of toil. In my "mind's eye", I can see that barely inflated, silver balloon hung up in the rafters; a very nice visual. ~ Geez.

Hello, Geezer!

Sunday evening has always felt a little melancholy to me.  Still considered the weekend, but the thought of approaching Monday morning weighs it down like a wet blanket.  Kind of a confusing feeling, like that balloon - is it festive, or just a reminder that the fun is over?

Thank you for reading!
