Tests

I ask myself if I love you? Am I attached to you
in the way you always say you are to me?

I test myself by thinking of being without you,
or of something bad happening to you

These tests stir a deep sadness in me for a time
The pieces of feelings assemble now with clarity
This is how I build my love

Self validation!

Real love appears only when you reveal your true self and when your lover appreciates you as an individual, not the picture-perfect fantasy.

hello Michael Anthony,

what Onyinedhi says is correct, in my humble knowledge, i agree. (and when you appreciate your lover as an individual.) I think it is a two way street) Lol, I just asked my mate, "why do you love me?" he listed many reasons. I do love that man! a very good poem Michael. i like these lines best:

These tests stir a deep sadness in me for a time
The pieces of feelings assemble now with clarity
This is how I build my love

It is built

Truly loving someone in this way, really loving them, takes a lot of sacrifice and inward reflection. Relationships are built over time and also like a building they need maintenance and renovation. A very nice piece.
