This Time, I Notice Everything

(Rewriting Memories)

I’ve been going through my old poetry
Remembering the things I left behind
And for some faults I rewrite a memory
As if atoning for my sins and crimes

I’ve been thinking about my penance
The anger that used to flow through my veins
The words we spat were poisonous venom –
Furious – while I wrapped myself in chains

But now, this time, I notice everything
Understanding ourselves a little more
I was dying from all the coloring
Trying to cover the holes in my core

I should have been more sincere with myself
But what’s the use other than retrospect
It’s just a memory left on the shelf
For an old man who likes to recollect

This Time, I Notice Everything

Hello, Wallyroo!

Happy NaPoWriMo!  I look forward to your poems!

This is so calming and accepting - mellowed with age. It leaves me feeling forgiven for any wrongdoings and free to shed off judgement toward others or myself.  Really enjoyed!

Thank you!
