Trotsky - A Limerick

There was once a commie called Trotsky
Who thought about things quite a lotsky
One day he felt sick
As a sharpish ice-pick
Sliced a new hole in his botsky.

A historical note from Edna:
I have taken a slight liberty with historical fact here for the sake of humour and rhyme. The Russian Jewish revolutionary thinker Leon Trotsky was certainly murdered by an assassin with an ice-pick, but the blow was not to his buttocks, but to his skull. Stalin, who had ordered the murder, awarded the killer (who spent 20 years in a Mexican jail as a result) the Order of Lenin.

About the Author

Region, Country: London, Culture Capital of the World

Favorite Poets: Siegfried Sassoon, Wilfred Owen, Rupert Brooke, Chaucer, Shakespeare to name but a few. And VERY IMPORTANTLY: Erich Fried, a leftwing Austrian of Jewish ancestry who fled the Nazis and became a British citizen in 1949., And, other writers (non-poets mainly): Raymond Chandler, Irvine Welsh, Anthony Burgess, Graham Greene, Charles Bukowski, John le Carré, Anthony Horowitz, Mick Herron, Margaret Attwood, Edna O'Brian, Maeve Binchy., Writers who I find vastly over-rated: TS Eliot, Virgina Woolf, Sylvia Plath, Phil Larkin, E.A. Poe, A. Ginsburg, Longfellow, Gerald Manley Hopkins (actually I LOATHE Hopkins more than damson-dappled words can say).

I found it...

Amusing, even though you took some liberty with the facts. ~ Geezer.

But at least...

...I admitted that in advance, unlike some other writers I could mention, if I racked my brains a lotsky.

Enjoyed your limmerick, Edna.

Enjoyed your limmerick, Edna. Frida Kahlo had an affair with Trotsky, just adding something to your tale, so cleverly put together. Enjoyed. xxx

Yep, true enough. But she was

Yep, true enough. But she was a brave woman, had a horrible accident and then developped Fibromyalgia, which is an extremely painful muscular disease, which I happen to have had for over 30 years. It had gotten better when I became a vegetarian, but now with this isolation for about 6 months ahead, the pain has become a little worse, tho' not as bad as when it started.
Frida was so brave, doing her painting and lots of other activities, despite her pitiful condition.
I really like your poem, I'm just adding a little info. xxx
