UNDER THE MISTLETOE

Our lips pressed briefly in a barren kiss.
Have I waited so long for this?
Yet in that kiss my dream confirmed,
A key inserted and the lock may turn.

My lips brushed close against your cheek,
So desperate for the key they seek,
But for all the dreams my lips entice
I could only whisper
"That was nice".

But now my dreams are memories,
Your red door closed despite my pleas,
My key unkeyed,
Your lock unkissed.
Have I waited so long for this!

Under The Mistletoe

Hello!
A great take on the traditional mistletoe kiss. Very clever and original. They're not all like the hot kisses in our dreams. But I've heard that New Year's Eve always offers us second chances!
Thank you for this!

Hi Lavender

Thanks for your comments as always. Unfortunately the New Year was not possible. Some of the other poems I have posted here are about her - and no doubt there will be some later ones as well.
Cheers

First time to hear

About the mistletoe kiss, I have to agree with Lavender.
Clever and well structured.
Best wishes
