Valentine
I'll pen a simple sonnet on this day
with rhyme and words that manifest my love.
Bestow to you a poetry bouquet
of vows and promises I know whereof.
Would you prefer I boldly speak of lust?
For not to tell would surely be remiss.
I'll gladly whisper softly, if I must,
while longing for a warm, lingering kiss.
Yet, know my truthful desire, My Dear, please,
to share this sonnet I blindly compose
with your sweet scent that swoons me to my knees.
In this bouquet, you are My Thornless Rose.
For you, Darling, my heart loves endlessly
through time and space and fragrant poetry.

Reads Like
This, to me, reads like something the Victorian poets would have penned though they would have been even more flowery. I liked it immensely. Alex

Hello, Alex,
Interesting...I actually pulled back on the flowery language thinking that it may be over the top for this day and age. But I'm tickled you mentioned the concept. If you ever feel the inkling to pen a Victorian sonnet, I would love to read it! Thank you for reading!

This is...
so very nice. I like the soft and sweet thoughts, that make this seem like a breath of Spring in a tryst, late at night. ~ Geez.

Aaahh...
... a sonnet. Complete with flowery words and romantic ideas. I like that you employed a soft volta, and at the traditional time, then wrapped it up with a timeless declaration of love.
Sonnets are so rarely written nowadays that it is a real treat to read one every once in a while, so thanks for that!
