Valentine's Slop
Valentine's Day my arse!
O but I loathe it beyond human belief!
A load of stupid lovesick fools
Buying ugly cards to send each other
With sloppy sentimental lovey-dovey doggerel;
Those "hot" dinner dates (Covid permitting):
Where's the love in being ripped off in third-rate restaurants
With fourth-rate food at extra high prices?
God in Heaven, but it makes me sick!
How fortunate is the man with no one to love
And with no one who pretends to love him.
I shall spend the fourteenth of February
Sitting watching a pornographic DVD from
My extensive video collection
And guzzling a bottle or two of expensive wine
With a casual pick-up
(with a bit of luck).

Yes, you'r being cynical.
But that's okay; you really get your point across.
As an improvement, however, I would like to see some more Valentine's day stereotypes shot down like rabid dogs. You know what I mean: vapid lovey-dovey stories, some "oh your so special" bullshit, or maybe "we made sweet love....but it was really just a good f*ck."
I think the comparison between the fantasy of Feb 14th, and the reality you present would be priceless.

I agree
However, I am far too charming and polite to use the F word. Except when speaking of Boris Johnson or Donald Trump.

LMAO
I'm sure you'll find some alternatives....excepting Boris and Dirty Donnie, of course. Then again, the eff word is quite frankly too good for either of them.

Not only the F!
I would be tempted to use the C word for those two, but again, I am far too gentlemanly....

Tosser. Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson!!!
Yer've spilt yer seed
yer've spent it
as did Onan
on a barren land,
and no flower grew
where you shot through
off a ninety nine change hand!!
Miss your wit;
Yers, "The fortunate one"... Obadiah.

No comment.
Apart from noting there is a difference between "being romantic" and buying into commercialised clichés and sentimental slop!
