WHERE MEMORIES DWELL

There are times I see them all,
all of my departed friends
as if through a thick glass wall
in that place where time never ends.

Some of them, it seems, see me
and greet me with a wave or smile
from a place that's yet to be
but where I will be in a while.

Often the place is back in time
in woods on trails we used to walk
or maybe some hill we used to climb;
shared ventures which required no talk.

I see them....I see them
as clearly as if in real life.
I see and often talk with them
in a place which holds no strife.

But then like a temporal blink
they're gone and I'm left bereft
as they go to a place, I think
which lies behind some kind of cleft.

Lately it seems I see them more............

Hi Alan

I argued with myself about whether to end with......... then decided it might work to let the reader's imagination take over.I am pleased you think it works

Yeah...

the older we get, the more we seem to see them. I see a lot of my old friends that have gone on before me, and I wonder if
there is a place where we will meet later on. Sometimes, I am convinced and others, I am not. Mostly, I see them at places that are no longer there; much as they are no longer here or there. I pass by the place where the old store used to be or the school that has turned into apartments and for an instant, I see Miguel or Irvy, sometimes even Johnny! But then they are gone. Someday, I will be too... Nice poem about remembering old friends. Nothing to crit. ~ Gee.

Hi Geeze.

I have no doubt that place exists as I've been almost there a few times. I expect there will come a time when I will want to go there but not quite yet. I've too many people I'm not done aggravating yet

LOL

why does it take so many years to become old? Because it takes a lot of experience to deal with it lol. As to my age I'll be 66 next Wednesday. Many are the times I talk myself into thinking the years don't matter. Then I try to do the things I easily did 20 years ago and get smacked with reality lol

Yes

One should enjoy old age because a lot of folks don't get to reach that point
