Wintering

I walk among the
rustling leaves,
brittle, though some supple and soft
like the final sigh before
falling asleep.

They nestle on this
cooling earth,
placidly rolling in the
autumn breeze,
as if dreaming of clouds
tumbling east to west.

While I visit these woods,
I hear the voice of a
distant snowfall
singing to the valleys
and riverbeds,
soon pausing by my side,
hushing the leaves, the breeze
in a warm blanket of winter white.

Here, I repose my soul.

Beautiful!

A dreamy like feelings run through out this beauty.
Though it's about the coldest season, each line is a relief that assures what's coming is holding nothing but warmth and peace.
Hope this season to bring your way all the happiness dear lovely Lavender!

Dearest Lavender,

I love how you always reflect your peaceful soul in all of your poems. This one is a new favorite of mine. These lines:

While I visit these woods,
I hear the voice of a
distant snowfall
singing to the valleys
and riverbeds,
approaching the restless leaves,
hushing them with a
warm blanket of winter white.

Here, I repose my soul.

(really resonate.)

Here in Wisconsin, we eagerly await snowfall. It is unusual for the fact that we have only had one which did not stick. I have a friend coming for a visit over the holidays. She has never seen snow and I am really hoping she gets to have this experience.

much love, Cat

Hello, Cat,

I find it helpful to shut down a bit just like nature does - a time for soul searching and reflection. I hope your friend gets to experience some snow!
Thank you, Cat!

Hello, John,

Much to learn from walking in the woods during the Fall/Winter seasons, just by listening. A natural time for reflection.
Thank you for reading, and warm regards to you during this "wintering" time of year!

Hello, Juarez,

I was walking through the woods sensing the change of seasons so near. The woods, the leaves felt as if they were drawing in, much like I do in the winter time. I appreciate your time and your generous comment.
Thank you,
L
