WORDS NO LONGER MATTER

WORDS NO LONGER MATTER

When words no longer matter
It is only that look that counts
With a stare like an aimed gun
And your finger on the trigger
Our relationship to reconfigure
And I’d thought I was the one
Hot air, weighed by the ounce
So watch those feelings scatter

A gaze that cuts right through
Tears hiding beneath makeup
Yeah, don’t let feelings show
Over time, even hate mellows
As words are now just echoes
Whispers with nowhere to go
Sharing tales about a breakup
And goodbye to me and you

Very relatable and sad poem. I recently broke up with my girlfriend, now she is married, but alone. I wish that it could have worked out, but it's over now. Great poem though, I felt the anguish and pain. Great Job and great use of vocab. Keep writing and I will keep reading. I like your poetry.

I see...

some things here that only someone who has been through a serious break-up, would pay attention to:

A gaze that cuts right through
Tears hiding beneath makeup
Yeah, don’t let feelings show
Over time, even hate mellows
As words are now just echoes
Whispers with nowhere to go
Sharing tales about a breakup
And goodbye to me and you

Yes, we survived; we don't have to assume or hand out blame, the effect is the same if you really cared at any point in the relationship

BTW, this is an interesting form, nice job!
