To You, Dear Autumn, A Villanelle
I bathe in the glory of your gold
Relish your kisses in the early morning air
I wrap my heart in crimson blankets you unfold
Embrace the silence in the evening cold
Adorn a fire if, the chill, too much to bear
I bathe in the glory of your gold
Your night holds stars, burned and faintly old
While a frost may fall, I am not aware
I wrap my heart in crimson blankets you unfold
Though poems, recited, and epic stories told
Few words proclaim what my soul shall declare
I bathe in the glory of your gold
My eyes, too bewildered to properly behold
The grandeur of your radiant wear
I wrap my heart in crimson blankets you unfold
My Dear Autumn, majestic, untamed, and bold
An unveiled gift of gems, chosen with such care
I bathe in the glory of your gold
I wrap my heart in crimson blankets you unfold

Hello Lavendar
Very lyrical, kept a consistent form through the poem, the rhymes add to its musicality, enjoyed your poetic skills as always.

Hello dearest Lavender
What a majestic write. A villanelle seems the ideal form to give Autumn its justice. I wrote one or two villanelle, but I don't think any of them is near to this one.
Trying to choose my favorite lines, I found it really difficult, but the closing is really superb!
Great job!
Thank you for sharing this gem.

It seems to me...
..there have been a few villanelles around here lately. I will need to research them now if they are going to become popular here. I should be able to at least comment on the technical aspects when I see them. You have a noticeable dedication to poetry in general for trying so many new forms, Lavender, so thank you for that!
Cheers,
Thomas

Hello, Thomas,
I learned about the villanelle form from a fellow bard here on Neopoet back in 2020. (I think.) Had never heard of it before. He and several others have shared so much great poetic information, it just feeds the desire to learn more. I hope you give it a go!
Thank you!

Hello, Cat,
You are very kind. Autumn always feels so "regal" to me. This kinda wrote itself. The challenge with a villanelle is that it needs to make sense. I hope this was at least a bit clear.
Thank you for reading!

A challenge for sure
And I bet an enjoyable one.
A highly structured type of poetry that takes some time and thought.
Great! Lavender...

Just read this again...
"The grandeur of your radiant wear" is a stunning line, Lavender. For me, it is perfectly poetic as a cause and effect declaration.

Hello, Thomas,
It is a beautiful Autumn here. It's hard to find the most proficient words, but looking at the foliage, the poetry kinda writes itself.
Thank you!

I didn't even know what a vilanelle was, but this was a beautiful poem! Great job L! Maybe I'll try one sometime. I enjoyed the last stanza the most!

Hello, Leslie,
I learned a few years back from a fellow poet here at Neo. Thank you for your kind comments, and I'll be looking out for your own villanelle!
