POETIC CONTACT

He held her like a poem,
a breath of words,
a body of thoughts,
sentiments expressed in subtle metaphors,
that drove his heart to beat faster ;
never to feel a warmth of hand,
a breast;
imagined,
spun into fairy-tales, unreal.

The Empire

The empire will end soon
But it’s ok
I’m a poet
I am familiar with change
The grand reconstruction of it all.

In fact I like
Because I’m a poet
Because I get to note it all down
Or else no one else will.

We’re a dying breed
No fame can be achieved
And that is sad
But it’s ok
I’m a poet
I’m used to it.

So when the empire falls
And explodes
Into golden dust and shimmering pieces of crystal
I will not be sad
I will sit and watch.

Dead Battery (Her First Kill)

Middle of the night
car abandoned
on the side of the road.
No cell phone signal
for miles around.

This is just great,
he muttered,
beginning to walk.
The perfect end
to a hellish day.

Looking around
the road was empty,
not a soul to be found.
Suddenly he got the feeling
he wasn't alone.

Twisted giggles
coming from leafless trees
caused him to stop in his tracks.
Where the hell was he?
How did he get on this path?

a lesson in grief

Part 1

I have been the silent soul
watching from the shade

my hands stopped bleeding
when reality poked her head in
I was overcome with flames
still, I became the mourning

hollow, I could only murmur
as the birds in your garden
whistled a hushed melody
I shuffle, wrapped in their song

the ash of my grief flakes away
outstretched hands pile with white lace
so I wander lost and faceless
knowing there is no going home today

Political Pandering (first new one in a while)

Political Pandering

Spare a dollar, spare a dime
Come sit down and waste your time
Listen to the mastery
Of lying faces, politically

We'll do this, we'll do that
Come on up and fill the hat
We'll say one thing and do another
Hopes and dreams we're bound to smother

Spare a dollar, spare a twenty
Put it in, we'll spend plenty
We don't bother to even try
Pay no attention to our lie.

F A U X T O G R A P H E E

a harsh skim of sun
has found the bare
thin wonder

the down nadir of dusk
and twilights rush
the dance
and tingle

before the gates of blue
that lay poised beyond
the transom of the window

a weight of an ocean
light as the ghost word
etched
reverse
in the spillway of hearts
beating like a dark
drum

Forlorn Hope

In silence
I confide,
To a friend
I dare not,
I bit my lip
To stop myself
from opening
The door shut closed.
No...not before a strange
Or a confidante even,
No one must know!
I clung to one thing,
A coin of no value
To be exchanged
For a piece of bread
To satisfy this hunger
And silence the voices
Shouting back.
I dare not beg.
I am poor
But a beggar
I refuse!
For hunger,
A bread.
For thirst,
My tears.
For solitude,

Canadians vocation

very beautiful we also let
our kids do and follow
at safe distance
as you are from Canada you know
half the year
we cut grass,
the other half we clear snow
all our cash earnings
out they flow
and
all don't have engineering firms
that of course you know
