I am getting old

I carry the wisdom seed
from the nurturing mind
of own integrity display
Through the path of journey life

Each sunrise I count the blessing
from the days bring me to see
maturity grows in me
with a self-paced discovery

Despite I am young at heart
In the mirror of portray
With the instinct aglow in me
Showcase kindness to others

Reflect true beauty advice
bring a smile to the face
with each chapter

Things Change

I remember when I was young
and had so many years ahead.
Things change.

I remember when I got my first job
and fifty cents an hour seemed enough.
Things change.

I remember the war in Southeast Asia,
hoping this might be our last.
Things change.

I remember starting a career,
wanting it would last forever.
Things change.

I remember buying our first home
when one bedroom was all we needed.
Things change.

Haven
(what Neopoet means to me)

Neopoet is a community of poets who come from all over,
to not only post their own poems but to read other poet's
work. We are a group that offer critique to help us all
improve our writing skills and learn new ways! Long
lasting friendships have been forged here. The kind that
are interactive, warm and rewarding...Neopoet is my haven!

LAST CAMP

His name is Buck and he's a cowboy
But the years have had their say,
Today he'll bid his last goodbye
Before he slowly rides away.

He can no longer ride the range
He's broken nearly every bone,
His horse and an old worn saddle
Are about all he calls his own.

He'll miss the morning campfire
The cattle waiting for their brand,
The days of mending fences
As he worked to tame the land.

Lost and Found

She was talking about a time
when she had a few too many,
and had no idea where she was.
In a dark alley, exposed and vulnerable.

Her youth speaking, shrugging away the danger
she was in that night, but with the insight of reflection
said, “We all get lost at some point in our lives.
Places where even the wind is afraid to go.”

MAKE ME LAUGH

Start with a smile,
And tell me a joke,
make me laugh,
my funny bloke.

Tell me again
fill life with fun
reel them off quick
until I am done.

Laughing my socks off
take to the stage
honing your humour
my comedian sage.

THE DEATH OF CAESAR

Why did Caesar have to die?
And why did Brutus have to play a hand in it?
Gods know how I have hated him for it
How for days I went to sleep
With my blood raging

He loved you like a son,
I screamed at his memory
And you thanked him with murder?
Then I realized it was worse than just murder
It was the betrayal of a trust so great

Books--Windows To Life

I have within my small abode
A collection of books,
A library,
A retreat from the daily life I lead.

The books that I read leave a vision in me
Of places now far, far away.
If I could paint, a picture I'd leave
Of places I've been to and dwelt.

England, Russia, Germany, France,
The words, they draw me in
To places I have never been,
But books have drawn me in.

Am thankful for the ones who write
Both now and in the past.
And teach me things I do not know
My knowledge now increased.
