Different...

In striving to be different
We are all the same
For the very thing we want
Is to make a name

Too many times we wish for
Things we cannot obtain
Oh, how much I want to
Show just what I've gained

I'm not the same, I assure you
I have my dreams, you see
Yes, that's only thing so different
Between you and little old me

Lament

Misty morning fog.
Damp air against my skin.
Fallen branches across the exit.
Have I missed the message again?

Mercyful Fate plays in the background,
as I look at the dirt below.
I come so often but do you hear me?
Father I didn't know.

Do you listen as I cry?
Wanting nothing more than to die.
Begging to take this internal pain away.
I have no desire to stay.

Silent Cry

Familiar footsteps racing down the stairs.
Crawling inside myself as Satan himself appears.
Hoping he won't notice while stalking through the room.
Flashbacks hit like lightening strikes; tired old fears.

Twist the words falling from my lips.
Breathing the same air has become a capitol offense.
Try not to stare, even into space.
How he hates the look of my face!

To Wish upon a Star

I try so hard to speak of peace
on any given day.
The clouds roll in, the rain it falls.
To catch me in their sway
my mind is an unsettled thing,
without the means to play.
And though I fall one thousand times
it never will give way.
It grinds my soul to powder,
and never goes away.
But if I wish upon a star
I just might find a way
to grasp the hope I really need.
To make a peaceful day

Gettin' Older

I can't see the things I use to see
My sense of touch is not that great,
The sounds of children's laughter
May go unheard or be too faint.

Decisions I use to make so quickly
Now I ponder most every task,
Questions go unanswered now
I may forget the questions asked.

Memories from many years ago
Seem they happened just last year,
To recall from just an hour passed
Leaves not a single thing that's clear.
