All Hallow's Eve

Through the veil I see
Shadows of who he used to be
Calling out this witch's night
I answer him with no fright

His power wholly unmatched
A ghostly plan was hatched
Grabbing, pulling and holding me
My limbs are bent, a dying tree

These were the promises made
On the deathbed where he laid
When he could return, he would
And follow him then I should

As the memories surge
I succumb to the urge
For there was none but he
And no greater love than we

Storm

I stood at the intersection
of Jefferson and Pine,
the library on the northeast corner,
Rosa's cafe across the street.
The sky above grew black,
brewing a storm,
soliciting anger.
Coveting a mood from me.

Where were you?

My Heart Still Loves You

(Chorus)
I know it's been awhile since we spoke
but here lately i've been thinking alot about you
and how we used to be so close i don't know what it is but my heart can't seem to forget you
I think about the times we shared and everything that we went through back then
we had our ups and downs but somehow we always manged to pull through
I miss those late-night conversations that we always had
your words still ringing in my head
No other guy seems to understand me the way you did

A New Moon

The smell of dust and burning wood
And those loud booms mom hid me from
Yesterday I peeked out
And the whole street is full of rabble

There are bricks everywhere
Smoke rising in all directions
I can only ask one question
What's happening to my home?

There's a man on top of the bricks
He's been lying there on the sun
For a long time now
And he's sleeping at a funny angle
Mom cried when I asked about it
He's not the only one

Gloriously luxuriating in eternal sleep

Forlorn; bereft of golden
(slippered) opportunities I weep;
Three score and four years
replete with mailer daemons,
hence mindset adrip
with self denouncing expletive filled bleep
unwritten expressed recriminations
wielded upon figurative head of wimpy blip;
decades elapsed at light speed clip
as the world turned days of mein kampf

Samhain (Halloween)

*Samhain comes round but once per year
known as Halloween to those not reared
in pagan’s tradition and proper lore

a special night dubbed All Hallow's Even
marked now by children's laughter
in costumes of ballerinas and cowboys (absurd!)

In days long past, ’twas common knowledge,
this night when the veil was thin
ghosts, ghoul’s, and the like could crossover.

the citizenry dressed as creatures of horror
to walk amongst the deadly horde
this night before All Saints Day dawned.

Laugh Attack

I attack the treacherous malady
with a persistent sense of humor.
A spirit I am bound to by need of faith
in its’ ability to keep the wild-eyed dogs at bay.

It's one of my best defenses.
One not quantifiable in lab tests.
I use it every day without fail
to seal the darkness at the borderlands of thought,
and laugh at the hapless incongruity of it all.

As far as I know, so far,
my particular infirmity will be
powerless against this defending knight
bent on the gift of laughter; for you, for me.

Come out of there

I should not have, but I did
I peeked beyond the dust bunnies
And I saw what was hidden there
Indeed a monster is underneath my bed

A big mound of something or another
With vacant eyes that have witnessed fears
Sheltered and seemingly scared himself
As I shone light to catch a better glimpse

It was he that scurried to the other side
I want it to come from under there
I want it to go long away
I mustered up the courage
to coax it with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich
