Lonely Music Box
As the sun rises my day sets
Twilight wakes my eyes open to a new day
The shadows of the night should not comfort small children like me
Spin the turnkey my music box
Plays lonely songs sings me sad sweet lullabies
Songs of solitude darkness the nights humble servants linger here
A casket the one place to rest my head
Such weary nights roaming the streets
Darkness is no santuary for anyone
Least a girl like me
So I just keep playing tunes
My lonely music box still sings
Sings me hope that one day a pure soul will save me from myself
And the sting of this my curse
I sit and wait for my savior
While my sad lonely music box sings
Of a hope that will never come
I remain a slave of the night
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I wrote this poem/song back when I was in high school. I just found it in my LiveJournal. I was in kind of a dark place when I wrote it, so excuse the blatant morbidity. I wrote it as lyrics to the song "Beyond The Dark Life" from the Guilty Gear X video game soundtrack, so the cadance fits the melody of that. The begining of the song reminded me of the type of song a music box would play, and it sounded very gothic. You can listen to the song here - http://www.imeem.com/psyg/music/uafzMKSv/guilty-gear-beyond-the-dark-lifemp3/
Though the melodoy of the song above fits the cadence of the words, I wrote this mostly as a sort of "theme song" for a character that my (now ex) boyfriend created - a pre-teen vampire named Charlotte.
