single orange tree
Let my dreams float soft beside you
my eyes rest in your form,
watch the light reveal all spaces
in this sensuality of dawn.
Follow breathing in its rhythm
the anticipated skip,
as behind a fluttered eyelid
in the dark you reach for it.
I shall uphold the right of guardian
resist the armies of the day,
let you sleep on through the morning,
wash tired memory away.
Beyond the treeline on the roadway
the world keeps rolling past,
there's no envy here beside you,
tie us not unto that mast.
Walk us lightly on the shoreline
dance in places seldom seen,
there's a fountain in a courtyard
beside a single orange tree.
my eyes rest in your form,
watch the light reveal all spaces
in this sensuality of dawn.
Follow breathing in its rhythm
the anticipated skip,
as behind a fluttered eyelid
in the dark you reach for it.
I shall uphold the right of guardian
resist the armies of the day,
let you sleep on through the morning,
wash tired memory away.
Beyond the treeline on the roadway
the world keeps rolling past,
there's no envy here beside you,
tie us not unto that mast.
Walk us lightly on the shoreline
dance in places seldom seen,
there's a fountain in a courtyard
beside a single orange tree.
