Love Addict

I used to think that rehab was the end all be all,
Anyone sent there would never be addicted again.
Then I met you, and I realized why drugs are so hard to quit.

I swear your kiss has something in it,
Because I’ve never craved something so much.

Your smile is my morphine,
Immediately melting me
And easing my worries.

Who needs heroin when I have your touch?
I get the same euphoric feeling from you.

I’m high on love,
Who needs drugs?

I’m itching for a hit,
You’re on my mind 24/7.

Along The Windy Shore

I remember you
and your lit-up smile
under the salty boardwalk.
You were seventeen
with your tousled hair
along the windy shore.

Such a time we had
'neath the summer sun
under the salty boardwalk.
With our hands entwined
we would race the waves
along the windy shore.

We never made promises
we couldn't keep.
No promises were broken.

So in the silver moonlight
there on the beach,
few words were ever spoken.

Life, The Last Stages

Life

Life passes so quickly
And pushes us into the last stages
Where we begin to forget names
Cannot find our keys and ask
Ourselves what day it is!

Our patience runs short
Anxiety becomes commonplace
Words often spill from our lips
That show the loss of the filter
That once kept our thoughts in place

What's Life About?

Step out the door to clear the doubt.
You'll learn for sure what life's about.
What's good, what's bad, go out, explore,
to clear the doubt, step out the door.

Unlatch the lock, cast out the fear.
find out your way through hope and cheer.
The journey is a joyful walk,
Cast out the fear, unlatch the lock.

The secrets lie upon your palms.
Feel free to share your heartfelt psalms
Enhance your wits, give it a try
Upon your palms the secrets lie.

Boardwalk Enchantment

She met him late
in the month of May,
at the lake shore
on a cloud dappled day.

Whistling while he strolled,
and skipping stones
on the glass like water
throwing them like divining bones.

Seeing her at rest,
on a blanket on the sand,
introducing himself
he took her by the hand.

Leading her to a special space
willingly she went along
with him under the boardwalk,
where he sang his mesmerizing song!

Trump Trumped Decree Targeting Undocumented Americans

No secret the Don did abrogate,
his strict ban barring employees to acclimate
themselves, to live within United States
legal tender, and accommodate
themselves comfortably anonymous,

though "NOT FAKE," but accurate
reliable, trustworthy, et cetera
resources who did activate
my awareness, his hired hands receive adequate
pay, (perhaps greater than minimum wage),

Wicked

Wicked
Written by Kelly Ann Wilson

Once upon a time,
I went back and forth
In my mind
About who was the villain.

You wove quite a tale,
Didn’t you,
Of where you met
Your demons?

You seemed so sure
Of your folklore,
It really was
Convincing.

But in a tale
As old as time,
The truth
Isn’t so forgiving.

There lived a girl
Who sang with the birds
And dreamed
Her prince would come.

The I'm Still Here Show

So you think that
You are not worth
A damn dime

I need a moment—
The words flying in my head
Might turn into nuclear missiles

Here we go, let me
Lay these words on your empty bed
Mute the nonsense
Hear what doubt hopes
You never comprehend:

You are the sun
To someone’s darkness,
The simple hello
To the one who thinks
Only silence speaks

Yes, there will be
Winds and waves
That leave you
Unable to take
Another step—

But even then,
Your story has just
Turned to the next page

HOMECOMING

HOMECOMING

After so many years away, it almost hurts
Seeing the old place again, albeit changed
A few remaining half-remembered friends
Upon whom my future years still depends
Some of that chemistry is now rearranged
Yet soon to original relationships it reverts

Faces, a little aged of course, I still recall
Children that I’ve never seen, acting coy
To them, I’m a stranger finally returned
I wonder if forgiveness could be earned
Some expressions of surprise, others joy
It’s the smiles that please me most of all

Sunbeams of Happiness

Sand dust clinging
To all our jiggly parts
Yet no one stares
Or even cares

Minding their buckets
Combing and shoveling
Squishy wet sand
Between their fingers and toes

Bursting over in color drenched
umbrellas, towels, and swimsuits
Stretchy like taffy and naughty
As salt rimmed margaritas

Exuberant and chatty
Playing hide and seek
Under the wooden
boardwalk
Away from structure
and concrete
