p a t t e r .. u r n z

thread twists
deep below the depths
waterlines
driven high by the cost
of business

like a bad hinge on a good door
Loved with the mirror
the way the light was thrown
down a damp hip

zoning

nicotine
and pockets full
of stripped out
simplicity

flaunting an edge
and patting down
the cover up

said you missed
a stair

and we wore
too many
years
with our monkeys
on our backs

that gait
hardwon
cornering

HIGH NOON

HIGH NOON

In the U. S. of A. (where the antelopes play)
A land-rush had given men hope;
With no money to pay, they had reason to stay
And put roots down, their families could cope.

But some of these men were alone, had to send
For a wife from the east, say, New York
One such was the male, in this terrible tale
(Asked for one who was used to hard work.)

Fairy Tale Slayer (As Told By Black Riding Hood)

Prince Charming is a gigolo
how many stories was he in?
Cinderella caught him
trying to wake Sleeping Beauty.
His defense: she's in a coma
c'mon, Cindy,
is that really such a sin?

She took her glass slipper
shoved it up his ass.
Told him where to put his millions
perhaps you think she's crass.

Snow White was a whore
living with seven old men.
Her legs opened and closed
like a revolving door.
Gods only know
where she's been.

Crisp

a sky crumbles into dusk
violet and vermillion flames
the symphony of voice in the trees

the undulations of waves

there are birds cutting currents
and beacons offshore
beyond the island dream

the paper is succint
and free of the cellophane
the aroma wavers
in bitter streams

the first sharp fire
cupped to the dusk
and the crackle
ride an edge thats
been dulled with
ache forever

honed sharp
and hot deep
within a rib

Black Riding Hood

Through the darkened woods
Black Riding Hood ran.
Crushing the dirt
beneath her combat boots
to Grandmother's house
fast as she can.

Grinning with fangs
curled under deviant lips,
the Bad Wolf leapt.
Stopped Black Riding Hood
cold in her tracks.

I see you're alone
you must be afraid.
Would you be offended
if I walked with you a ways?

Black Riding Hood
stared unimpressed.
Stop wasting my time
I have some place to be.
Beat it, Wolf
Go climb a tree.

A Toast! By a Beautiful Dreamer!

I dreamt such a dream, just last night;
that I woke the whole house, past eleven;

seems, whom we're toasting to, had a bad "crash"
with me driving, so we landed in heaven.

St. Peter welcomed me, up, at the "gates"
in the crash, I had first, "bought my farm";

he said, "For all your sins, you'll walk eternity
with an ugly woman, always on your arm!"

These gals were quite "homely", I was taken....a back!
Plus, the one on my right had no "sense";

Oh! Name tis

sound vibrations of one’s name

cause certain frequencies

which reach an ear

then the vibrations
are converted into

electric vibrations ….

by the drum and the three bones in the ear.

later on these final eddy currents

are interpreted by the electronic brain,

hence this introductory poem.

What’s in a name?

each name has a vibration,

phonetic

each alphabet has been assigned

a particular value

and

the sum total of the points

added up

create a frequency

Talk (a song)

Just one shot, one more shot
and I'll go down
Just one shot, one more shot
and it will make my day

But you wouldn't give the
reason for this
You want to save what's last or what's less
and you wouldn't tell me
the cause of this mess
It wont preserve the...
remaining goodness...

Please light more cigarettes
I need to smoke
Don't be greedy
Don't be greedy

Humans Undone

God, hear my plea
I am lost in the dark
Broken and afraid
In this path, I see
People so much like me:
Strangers hungry since birth,
Innocence begging for pity,
Women dressed in riches,
Faces smudged in tears,
Beauties smiling like witches,
Downtrodden bowing so lowly,
And fools seeking immortality.
There are the homeless,
Genuine hearts looking straight,
Asking for a penny
To live through the day
Unwanted wanting to be wanted,
Dolls dreaming to be free,

The Never Looking Glass

Serendipity winked at me today
and allowed to me, your song;

familiar was your melody
so I yearned to sing along.

Then I saw with mine own eyes
what danced in mine own head,

I saw the way you looked at me,
so I looked away, instead.

I could not have apologized
for wearing on my sleeve,

what you so quickly mesmerized,
and I could not retrieve.

Then I passed a looking glass
and glimpsed a vision, cursed;

I tried to gain composure
but your reflection went by first.
