Human

Human
Written by Kelly Ann Wilson

I was far too pure of heart
To put the pieces together myself.
I didn’t have a word for it
Until someone else spelled it out.

I hadn’t come to see the world
The way that you do.
I still don’t and never will,
Though you tried your damnedest, didn’t you?

Did you learn from your grandpa’s crimes,
Or those of your father?
When you were younger
You were the victim,
But you became the descendent monster.

My Dream

In my dream I saw the stars
There were no borders or bars
Only things I pray to be
The urge to always be free
To love all my family
Even those who anger me
The world was bright and shining
Full of love that is binding
A place where I hope to go
A land I really know
Now I wake and see the truth
A dream that was in my youth

Just open the blind!

Down through the sky,
fell the "screaming blue meanies".
Down through my chimney,
not devoured by my fire.

Thoughts that once resonated
so clean and so clearly,
Now filled with anger,
hatred, and vice!

I wish to the four winds
my life felt worth living.
The gray days were over,
conquered and gone.

When will the sunshine
flow through my window?
Maybe if I would just
open the blind!

Beach Day

"That look, right there!",
I point at her and accuse,
as I catch her smile before it fades.

With no further words between us
we walked down to the azure coast,
as I imagined shells on the beach,
and second cups of coffee before lunch.

The Thingamajig and the Horny Toad

A thingamajig came in a box,
a cardboard crate that barely locks,
so as it waited on my lanai
it wiggled out with hopes to try
to skip, skedaddle, flee, or fly,
to slip away like a cunning fox
and laze itself in the near boondocks.

It got as far as the end of the road,
where there it met a horny toad
who didn't make a single sound
but dallied there on desert ground
hoping the thing would walk around
and not become a darn freeload
who needed help from a horny toad.

Carousel!

My mind is like a carnival
I'll try to help you understand

The turning, churning carousel
has functional demands

It lifts me up and drops me down
I am at its command

I have no power to make it change
I'm constantly in reprimand

My eyes are never dampened
for tears, I cannot cry

And if I could escape
There's nowhere left to fly

I've ostracized my friends and folks
I'm ever in denial

Reaching for redemption
of which I cannot buy!

Still Hoping... Autumn Image Prompt

Introduction:
Viewing the lonely lane
where the trees have dropped
their leaves, mostly brown
all color faded, lives stopped.

One last ramble ending Autumn,
lonely snowflake lands in my hand
smiling as season changes to next
not ready for this; wasn't planned.

Awakening to Spring's perfume...
played all through Summers' scented days
with nothing sober on my mind
colors change, setting them ablaze.
