Dreaded Market Days:
Dreaded Market Days:
I’m lost confused
And somewhat bemused,
Consumed;
by this madding crowd,
As touts stand - yelling/shouting
enticing the gullible,
the punters - encouraging
the masses pushing and shoving,
their heads swaying, - arms flaying
Bodies;
Seas of flesh wobbling –
Rippling like waves
as massive hips gyrate and swing
Read the rest of the poem Show less
in and out, in and out,
lumbering from side to side,
shimmering back and forth
All in perfect time
Panic strikes;
my wits alight
I’m forced to flee
this advancing herd
Like locusts
In-which encroach upon me?
Slipping sliding stumbling around,
I fall to the ground
Grovelling on all fore’s
Dogs queue
to hump the rear
out of me,
kids screaming running amok -
acting out like clowns,
mothers grunting,
groaning moaning,
as fathers pout
with yesterdays frowns,
A guy leans down
“A Burger sir, Or 2 for a pound”
“No thanks”… I scream
As I run from the stench,
And oh……….the smell
Of yesterdays –
second hand fry’s
while the dogs still chasing
In pursuit of me…
