My First Bicycle Ride

They say it's something
You can never forget
Unlike playing a piano
Or driving a Corvette

Is cycling just an instinctual skill ?
Mind over matter, a force of will

In my ripe old age I must confess
I've never been on a bicycle, or worn a dress.

Its just two wheels and pedals
How hard can it be
Just hold onto the bars
And set myself free

Tenacity

The ivy stretches up the wall
its leaves so small
but still it tries
to touch the skies.

It clings to mortar and red brick
its leaves so thick
its hearty vine
and veins entwine.

It trails along the window frame
showing no shame
in wanting more
than earthen floor.

Moonlight and lies!

Gaelic lady, sweet
but a bit shady
raven hair, with crystal blue eyes
runnin' round town
makin you look like a clown
gigglin' while whisperin'
her little white lies
everythings hazy
she's drivin' you crazy
your down on one knee
on a moonlit night
but then in the mornin'
she'll come around dauntin'
sayin' she's leavin'
for some other guy!

Grapefruit and Sugar

For all the love I have
Of the sand and sea
The rays of the sun
The rain and the mountains...

For all the love I have
Of yellow flowers
Grapefruit and sugar
The smiles of strangers...

For all the love I have
Of snow and hot showers
Music and sweet coffee
Driving at night...

I love you
Most of all

Just Another Burning Bush ... (by: eddy styx)

steamy claret party frock clings to your frame
silken gown, tightly caressing every curve
look in your eyes speaks of the broken lovers
you have left in your wake and careless swerve

thinking your game of sexual cat and mouse, cunning
foolish woman-child playing with immolation fires
you do not know, your life is leaving you behind
becoming a most heady object of men's desires.

Our Family Feud...

What's the answer to the question?
When can I be heard?
Things seem to be all wrong
Can you give me another word?

What does it look like from here?
The others might win through a steal
Who can you really trust?
I just don't know how to feel

Talking shit about each other
Jealousy rears its' ugly head
You cannot ever escape
Not even when you are dead

Blood is thicker than water
But not so much as alcohol
Be careful of what you say
The others are building a wall

TO LOVE......

To love like the golden sun,
Showering care on the weakened moon,
Two to one, everyone comes alive,
Together we breathe, every tear, every run,
To love for love, that's the way to love.

To love like the rain,
Kissing every face and name, no matter the case,
Everything knowing its cause, stainless, pure,
Beauty blossoms in hearts, not visions, nor gain,
To love for love, that's the miracle of love.

Wasting Wishes

How foolish I must’ve been back then,
standing at the water fountain with a penny,
staring at the sky like a puppy at a bone.

How pitiful did I look?
Carving your name next to mine inside a heart,
thinking wishbones would ever change your mind.

Maybe if I had gotten the long end,
Maybe if it had landed heads,
Maybe if I had chosen a better constellation.

Did the universe hear me wail and laugh
at the stupid girl, clasping her hands
at the side of her bed for the wrong guy?

Valentine

I'll pen a simple sonnet on this day
with rhyme and words that manifest my love.
Bestow to you a poetry bouquet
of vows and promises I know whereof.

Would you prefer I boldly speak of lust?
For not to tell would surely be remiss.
I'll gladly whisper softly, if I must,
while longing for a warm, lingering kiss.

Yet, know my truthful desire, My Dear, please,
to share this sonnet I blindly compose
with your sweet scent that swoons me to my knees.
In this bouquet, you are My Thornless Rose.
