Sooner or Later

The fuse is short, the wick is lit,
Soon frustration, I admit,
Will bubble up and make me grit
My teeth and want to just up and quit.

But later, ah, a different tune,
The sun will break, the sky, the moon,
Will smile on me, arriving soon,
And I'll enjoy this afternoon.

All things must pass, the wise men say,
The dark of night gives way to day,
So in this moment, come what may,
I won't give a rat's ass, hip hooray!

Together For Ever

'ts not a secret, I love you the most,
Our love inspired dancing the Tango.
Growing old with you is a blessing,
Every day is a fresh, promising date
To tell the world about this delight
Here we bathe the love of the earth;
Entwined in one, our souls agree-
Running forward and further.

Foremost, our bond's an amiable stuff,
Oh! How I wish it would forever go,
Running forward and further.

Drowned Love.

Moon waxing gibbous from freckled skies
As breakers roll and wash the sands.
Far, far out in the abysmal deep
A lover waits with outstretched hands.

Deep deep below she pirouettes.
Sways, graceful as a Degas girl.
Wrapped as the tide does ebb and flow
Held for all time in Neptune’s web.

Taken one night as the typhoon raged,
Sleet straight as arrows shredded sails,
Masts cracked, they splintered, decks heaved, they split
Till Into the maelstrom the hulk was swept.

The Night Dawns

Night Dawns

The dead of night still lingers in his veins,
yet absence chills him more than thirsting breath.
Her laughter, once his balm to hunger pains,
now buried deep, she’s lost to earth and death.

No whispered cry remains to call him near,
no murmured vow to stir his hollow chest.
The stars burn on, but none can ease his fear
a shrouded grief that cannot grant him rest.

Shadowzone

They’d laid dormant for so long
I’d forgotten they were still in there
I‘d sealed it firmly shut and thrown away the key
But they’ve escaped, leaving a bloodied trail of debris

They march towards my sanity
My mind can feel them getting closer
Trampling upon my serenity with torment
I sway and shake as I sense their destructive intent

Silently we face each other within this shadowzone
The outcome of this encounter remains unbeknown

Grace

When I first saw him

arms, especially the right one, nearly reaching his knees

long lashed large eyes gazing low in humility

he seemed from a different time

Flannel uniform draped over gangly frame

cap pushed back, a pleasant smile

comfortable as a well-worn shoe for an 11-year-old boy

a fit like a lifelong friend

Aromas of spit tobacco, green grass, dirt and sweat

hung in the dugout air

as he ambled over slowly

cleats crunching split sunflower shells

THE FIRST DAY BEFORE TWENTY -ONE

I remember our days on marble, O what soulful union,
When we crept on naked soles, minds slippery and fragile,
Little frames of life growing solid, rising from nothing,
To be groomed by lessons we never remembered to forget.

I remember our days of beginning, hands held in promises,
Assuming all will be golden, in castles and earthly heavens,
How we dined on pony houses, feeding our fairies with flying wings,
And we loved because every other feeling was foreign.

Cupiditas Mundi xxxiv

To sexualise my soul
Cast of me a Meratrix

Future poets redeem
Me I’ll know my pleasures
Now in the realm
You’ve created
Of precious metal
And precious stone

As if it were divine
As my beauty forged
Flesh

The patterns of my
Breathing echoes
The plaintive cries
Of Andromache
And Helen twenty years
A slave

Most feared of all gods
Venus lead me home
Gaze into my husband’s
Eyes

To its core

An honest soul,
That's so true.
With loving kindness,
Running through.

A caring heart,
So hard to find.
All wrapped in comfort,
Sweet and kind.

With searching thoughts,
That will not lie,
Seeking the moonlight,
In midnight sky.

And as the sun,
Rises up once more.
It warms my soul,
Through to its core.
