Too Late

"She walks in beauty, like the night".
A famous poet penned.
Did he know her in another life for
To love her I am condemned.

How cruel is fate, unjust, unkind
To leave it late for me to find the woman I have sought so long.

The years between a chasm,
Decades too wide.

And though a friendship blossoms
Deep as the deepest sea,
I know, I know, howe’er I yearn
Some things can never be.

First Class. To Where?

Click click clack clack
Asleep lay back
You race on through time
Over cold iron track.
Click click clack clack
As wild dreams attack
Your tortured soul
There is no going back.
Click click clack clack
Let the darkness like flack
Brighten the moon
That reflects on cold track.
Click click clack clack
As we tear up the track
Over points that divert
With no going back.
Click click clack clack
No use to look back
Your ticket was bought
At your birth way back.

A Goddess.

Vemeer, Cezanne, Canova,
And so, so many more
Have each depicted beauty yet,
Their works cannot compare
With my lady.

Each time I see her there is something new
As with any great work of art,
Some subtle nuance beckons me
That sets her far apart.

Apart From any painting that in marbled gallery hangs,
Apart from any sculpture cold and white,
My lady glows and stands above
Any man made work of art.

The Unforgiving Sea.

The sun sears hot from cobalt sky,
Scorches a land where all things die:
The mighty oak the rowan lay
Withered to dust wherein insects play.

No swallows dart or sing their song
Above the ruins all along
The crumbling land above the sea
Cursed for all eternity.

Out from the depths a church bell weeps
The death knell of a town that sleeps,
Sunk deep below by natures curse
To lose all traces from the earth.

Enslaved...

Enslaved by thoughts of you,
chained together forever...
Mindless amazement,
I surrender, I'm yours.

The most glorious jewel shines,
polished by the gaze of many.
Kept safe in the Master's harem,
for his eyes only.

Nothing else matters,
I will follow you to the heavens,
risk everything for your embrace.
I was yours from the moment we met.

Just be discrete, do not betray me.
Loose lips and all that.
The master would kill me,
even if the heartbreak didn't.

A Girl and I. (3)

In a woodland glade a girl and I
Naked on carpets of bluebells lie,
Birds fly and sing as she and I
Profess our love neath a burning sky.

So long ago that girl and I
Professed our love neath a burning sky,
Soft bodies warmed by a sun hung high
Fused together we lay as one may die.

Many years have flown since that girl and I
Let free sweet passion as on bluebells we lie,
Many girls I have known but none could fly
My heat like a kite neath that burning sky.

My Junk Drawers...

I've got a desk behind the door,
with drawers of junk I find,
I've got all types of nails, and more,
I've got screws of every kind.

My junk drawers... yeah, it's three,
have stuff to fix anything,
you just have to look and see,
if you need a special spring.

There's nuts and bolts, wire too,
some chain and string, I think.
I'll find something I can use,
some glue here; sure does stink.

At the X-Mas Bar...

As I passed by the sitting booth
in the X-Mas bar and grill,
I saw Mr. and Mrs. Santa
sit down to have a swill.

He patted her on the bum,
she kissed him on the cheek,
I distinctly heard her say,
Boy, what a wretched week!

He said; Yeah, I know it hon,
but it's all over now.
We had some terrifying moments,
but we got through somehow.

We had to can elf Albert,
he ate my stash of magic cookies.
He tried to hit on you, my love,
looking for some nookie.

To Neopoet

Shall ever I leave? No longer to stay,
Till cold darkness falls then soft, drift away;
Starlight still shall shine, moonlight still shall glow
Words ripped from the pen still onward will go
With you who have breathed fresh life to my soul
Inspired my spirit to grow as a whole.
So much do I owe, words I cannot find
To pour out my feelings to all so kind
With praise, encouragement, oft times critique
Driving me on in this land of mystique.
To Neopoet and friends discovered here
A season approaches, I wish good cheer

There's Always Tomorrow...

I miss you, I miss the feel of your skin;
your cold hands as they seek the warmth of my neck.
I miss the smell of your breath, Pepsi, cigarettes, and love.
The chuckles of amusement at the tickle of chill fingers.
Holding on to each other until we are warm, and the day takes us away.

Today, you go about the business of static living, unforgiving.
You don't know me, I can't forget, you won't remember.
Roommates with history, lovers before doubt.
Is it you? Is it me? Who wins?
Head games require more effort
