A Bard's Bad Luck

Sing to me Muse, of a day of your choosing
I hope it’s not rude, but somewhat amusing
We’ve all travelled far and await in suspense
As your bard I now ask, please commence.

The day was short but the sun still hot
A sundial displayed it was one o’clock
What happened that day was enough to shock
An Athenian man stole a cow and time stopped.

Hope

Somewhere along the way, the system was broken,
Leaving hearts cold, and dreams unspoken.
Yet, in the darkness, a whisper starts,
A flicker of hope, that warms our hearts.
For though the path ahead seems bleak and dire,
There’s still a spark, a flickering fire.

Rainy day people!

I never hope to see
another sunny day!
twil' only raise attention
to the barbed wire
and the nails.
My mind is torn
and broken.
My fear well on it's way.
I can't relate my feelings
like ash they've
turned to gray,
but maybe some
clear morning.
The mists will fade away!
I'll stand there in the sunlight,
enjoy the light of day,
but if I stand to shed a tear.
Please don't walk away!

Smile

She smiles
But there is sadness in her eyes
As she embraces all the pain
she has bottled up inside
God knows
How much she wants it all to end
Yet still with every fall
she gets back up again

She’s such a fighter
No one knows or even understands.
The hand she’s been dealt
Such a survivor
Every trial that has broken her down
She rises up again

Before Your Funeral

In the low hours of the morning
When my eyes first bear the light
When the sky seems soft and humble
Before the sun rises with spite

Before the sounds of rustling covers
Reveal my lonely, aching soul
I hear the robin out my window
Echoing the church bells' solemn toll

As I scorn the waking hour
Distrust events the day will bring
I am forsaken by your leaving
And once again, the church bells ring

Right…

Right…
I liked that, because he liked it.
But I found outing interesting,
Yet I found the world a bit lonelier than I remembered.
Right, I liked ice cream too,
But he went with me all the time,
And suddenly, the ice cream tasted bland,
My favourite flavour felt hollow.
How strange for something that used to feel so full.
Okay, maybe the park?
I liked strolling there,
When did the grass turn gray?
Did they cut down my favourite tree?
Right… we usually went to his “favourite” spot.

perpetually petulant president
pathological prejudice
pathetically privileged preference
pensioning puckering prune!

perverted predominant precedence
plausible prevalent pestilence
political present predicament
perilous pachyderm poo!

FIRST TO ARRIVE

FIRST TO ARRIVE

No matter what the ticket said
I’ll be there first, in the queue
An assured entry it will be true
It is always best to plan ahead

But here I am, it’s barely dawn
And yes, now it started to rain
Being here this early was insane
I must attempt to stifle a yawn

This they say, is a unique event
I even found my spot last night
A thick anorak, buttoned tight
And I did put up this little tent

Hymn of the Bees...

A goodly morning busy bees,
What's for honey, if you please?
Have you sucked the flowers' juice,
Or hummed to them, tender coos?

Bet you hummed in harmony,
Sang the morning's symphony.
Now it’s butter that I need,
Jar of milk , for a perfect heed.

Filled with sweets, up to the brim,
Me and you, singing a hymn.
Lavish to set the rest of the day,
Free and funny all the way.

Killer's Halloween Ball...

The shadows of the night
Much deeper than the dark,
They make a silent sound,
Passing by, like lonely sharks.

The goblins and the spirits
Of all who've gone before,
Come to see the new souls,
That, and something more.

Killer's party is "to die for"
It's all that, and quite the fete.
Friendships are renewed,
and there's always folks to meet.
