The soldier’s call

Bluntly burning
blows blasting
to and fro throughout
the blood born
battlefield. With
nothing but
smog and smoke smearing
across the
ambiguous air the
soldiers stiffly
stand and sternly stare .
For they do
not yield even with
terror tearing
through their harrowing hearts
still they march .
Never to wither in dither
for their minds
like a jumping jovial jester
fervently festers
with an earnest honor
for the fallen
who fought and

Spark to Embers (Wildflowers II)

my life was
like an open wound
full of raw flesh and pain...

my love was
septic, pure sewage
garbage down a drain...

my heart
recognized yours
as a beacon in the dark...

your soul,
fuel for fire
to heighten and spark...

your mouth,
the source of my truths
I will hang on every line...

your eyes,
speak in the softest tones
as together we partake of the wine!

On a starry night!

Ravishingly bold
our tale as yet untold.
Wandering aimlessly
through the night.
Embrace with passion
before the primal light.
Your heart is strong,
my body hot.
I reach for you submissively
to feel your warmth,
your supple breasts.
Release the strength
which I possess,
as we pass through
this languid night.
We lie there naked
gazing up
into a starry sky
Then amble off with
warm soft blankets.
Remembering the
sheer delight!
Listening to your

RATMOSPHERIC

RATMOSPHERIC

Shrunken, I entered the damp dark drain
And would never be quite the same again
That one encounter I had was so inspiring
A strange new perspective I was acquiring

With a glint of light in contrast to the dim
A rat stood there, as if a spotlight on him
It began to sing, but with a plaintive voice
The song was such an unexpected choice

It sounded quite operatic, Puccini I’d say
Something about sad hope and Un Bel Di
And the unrequited love for a visiting rat
But I am really not sure about any of that

Prophecy

In light of this earthly doom,
Future states all our fatal gloom.
From the depth of circus and crown,
Our lives come tumbling down.

Through woes of health and sorrows,
Time is alas so borrowed.
By choice of substance have we,
Over the fate of those who flee.

Yet our attention is diverted,
Away from all that's peverted.
From wars of dominance and greed,
We should care for those in need.

The haunted train of Schwenksville

After dark every Halloween
since living social in Perkiomen Valley
for seven long years,
a shrill whistle train whistle
(often compared to the sound
of a bird's call, particularly
a large bird like a hawk or a crane,
due to its piercing, high-pitched
and long-lasting whistle-like quality)
soundcloud heard
from afar clear as a bell,
yet nary a train present
since locomotives stopped running
through Schwenksville, Pennsylvania valley in 1976,
when Pennsylvania Railroad
gave up its rail assets

Fireside Chat

Holly berries profuse on branches above
thick in clusters red against green
ornaments on an early Christmas wreath
or medals decorating a chest in the military

One spike in particular is especially festooned
near the top, standing out
high unlike me
all cynics’ evidence to the contrary

As the fire smolders it remains amazing to me
to see a massive pile of branches, limbs and leaves
turned into heat, smoke
and a relatively small pile of ash

Have you heard?

There’s a bar downtown
Where the stories are
better than the beers,
If you meet Captain Ralph
you’ll know why.

He tells stories better than
any Hollywood movie director
Just sit at the bar and wait.

Once there I was having a bad day,
Ordered two stiff ones and he ordered three.
Told me he had a girlfriend that ended up
Being a WWE wrestler and kicked his tail all the way to Scottsdale, AZ.

Flowers in our Footprints

l'm going to walk away
I don't want you to stop me

We've grown apart, and that's okay

We'll be alright, you and I

You go your way, and I'll go mine

We may leave tears in our wake,
but they will water the memories
and leave flowers in our footprints

and when you turn around
and see a garden..
Remember me
