My Memorable Time

The day arrived that filled me with dread
As I watched my sister in her hospital bed

Day by day she drifted into a deep sleep
Causing us to sigh and really weep

Each day we said our prayers
Petitioning the man upstairs

Talking to her while in her state
Hoping she could avoid her fate

My wife recited the Rosary in depth
Upons the last words she took her last breath

A memorable way for her to pass
With a prayer in her heart she went with class

Does He See Me

He doesn’t gaze
into my azure eyes
or recognize my
blonde bob.
He doesn’t see me
as young or old
or the deep burgundy
of my blouse.

Before our date
he didn’t know.
he knew not.
after, but he learned
my wit and
personality

His sight never
judged me.
He never had to
get past what
He perceived.
He loves me
for who I am.

Like lambs to the slaughter

We're waiting to be slaughtered,
Sat quivering in our stalls.
Eager for that rush of boldness,
Much as Aslan, before he falls.

Lambs lured into darkness,
Ruled by lion's iron rod of fear.
And trapped by their weakness,
Lost the battle, over the years.

Pushed joy right out the gateway,
When they joined that sheeply flock.
Yet the Meek may flee the lion,
In the final tick, of doomsday's clock.

Music...

Came into my life
and never left.
It just evolved
in many different forms.
At first
as part of a group
with the joining of voices.
With songs from
times I remember
and times I don't.
And then
with music
classical in nature
or even
with classical lines imposed.
And now
it's swing
but at the very roots of swing.
I'm in the deep end now.
Truly deep.

Raven's Call...

Sometimes I feel like the raven flying in the morning with no idea where I'm going craving for a destination .a time to rest time to eat maybe a time to think. But I have to follow the warm wind. I see a beautiful bauble that caught my eyes off in the distance. The closer I get this craving is growing stronger. Flying faster I feel my little heart vibrating my bones Feathers coming loose. twirling out of control crashing to the ground. Hurt and lost trying to shake this off . Looking up and seeing a few like me gathering around.

Kindness of Strangers

A random act of Kindness
came my way last night
I went into a Lounge Cafe,
After an entire day of shite.
My stress levels were high
Hard to focus or think
All of my anxieties,
Becalmed by a strong drink.

The girl at the bar took my order
And asked me "are you alright" ?
I had to tell her the truth,
I was worried and uptight.

Not Wordsworth's Daffodils

We stand, loud-mouthed, loutish,
all trumpet and swagger,
lining the roadside, cheap bunting
yellow as your nan’s nicest tea towel,
bold as your dog demanding food.

We know what we are.
Petals preaching poetry
spring’s golden cliché,
the romanticised vision of a man
moved to words by flowers.

But you
blurred behind glass,
squinting through screens,
hurrying to Tesco, late for school runs
you don’t even see us.

Reinventing Myself

I'm a work in progress
I've made
significant changes
in my life.
I had to.

So
I am reinventing myself
to become
a more developed person
who continues
to learn new skills
and grow.

I've changed
the way
I do things.
I've noticed this.

What you do
when you must
is just there
and it happens.

It isn't good.
It isn't bad.
It just is.
But sometimes
it's fun.

Entomology

I've read that moths may not be attracted to light,
as we have assumed. It may be that they flutter

chaotically around confused by the illumination,
not captivated by the clarity of purpose it appears to be.

Love has been like that.

Of Dogs And Men

On my walk yesterday
I came across an old dog
Lying almost lifeless
By the side of the road

I stopped and walked over to him
To see if he was still alive
And as I stood there by his side
A wave of sadness came over me
And I thought to myself
If only someone did this for me
Once in a while

When he heard me, he rose
With a look of defeat in his eyes
That hinted at some broken thing
Somewhere deep within his soul
