Repressed

She wrote to him that cold night,

the ink bled through.

And though the letter made its way
into the affable flame,
the fireplace held the charred
ashes of their lives long after,

as did the surface of her desk
and the cruel stains on her fingertips.

My thoughts are crystal clear

I feel
As if the fog has been lifted
And my mind
Is now open
To clarity
And to my purpose
My thoughts are crystal clear
And I am able to open up
Open out
To whatever is out there
For me
My eyes are wide open
They see so clearly
They see that my future is bright
And full of light
As I write these words
As I soar high in the sky
And fly
I am so happy
And so free
Free of all doubts
And fears
That burdened me
And held me hostage

The Memories of Water

Water never forgets,
each drop a fragment of what once was.
Rivers carved through stone recalling glaciers,
oceans echo the songs of long-gone whales.

Rain falls, heavy with stories,
whispering of mountains it nurtured,
and deserts it dared to cross.
It pools in lakes, holding reflections for centuries.

A single droplet clings to a leaf,
remembering the storm it survived,
the clouds it left behind,
and the roots it will soon embrace.

Nostalgic Counsel

Dear younger self, with dreams in your gaze,
Embrace change, let your spirit blaze.
Life's a river, always in flow,
Welcome the currents, let your heart know.

Value bonds, hold them near,
In laughter and moments, find silent cheer.
Friends are anchors, through storms they stand,
Their love is treasure, the finest in hand.

Pursue passions, let your heart sing,
Follow your dreams, they give you wings.
Fear not failures, they’re part of the game,
Each setback a step, not a mark of your name.

Our Last Goodbye

We spent our last hours in my car.

We both knew what was to come,
but we pretended we didn't...

We ate Chinese food,
drank some drinks,
laughed and sang our hearts out.

We couldn't stop looking at each other,
silently saying "I love you"

The clock was ticking too fast,
We only had minutes left.

I can't say goodbye
I can't let you go

I begged you to stay,
I cried and held your hand in mine,
pleading for more time.

Many Moons Ago

What is it about the moon that lends itself to rhyme and verse, and so much more? The moon that weaves its way into countless poems, books, and songs while it soars across the nighttime sky on its quest to light the world.

But what about this moon we see most every night? A waning or waxing crescent moon or the moon trying its best to become full, to be seen around the world but through different lenses, shadowed by circumstances and events that can distort an otherwise pristine celestial body.

Comfort and Joy

Now rest ye, earthly gentle beings
The Universe is wise
She looks upon us with a Love
That neither feigns nor dies
Though in our arrogance we fall
In bitter compromise
Oh, tidings of comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
She will comfort us with tidings of joy

Elegy for Jess Tapper

Before the skies began to fall, I was told of nature’s

latest cruelty: your disappearance. I am glad you

aren't animate for this plague borne of inattention.

But this is no time for trouble, no time to double on trouble.

A madcap from some submarinal lake in Lewis Carroll,

a Blakean sincerity searing through all you wrote, all you did.

Would this wordsmith firebrand choose to be himself once more?

coose his own storm, the fitful alterations of his rain,

each drop a small planet weighed on and burnt
