Daffodils

Narcissus turns
to sunrise
showing that Spring
is rounding the corner.
The hope of
new beginnings
is following
on its tail.

The tall stalks
surround the lake
without a care
in sight
are bobbing
their heads,
seeming to
want a sip
of the blue
water.

Blue Nights

The sun set a few minutes ago
But somehow as I stare at this purplish horizon
I get this strange feeling
That the story is just beginning

If I could have a minute of your time
I'd tell you of the darkness I befriended
For in it I came to discover
Jewels as bright as diamonds

Sometimes I walk out after midnight
And I feast my eyes upon a sleeping world
Somehow in that grave silence
My heart seems to find
What it had searched for all day

Ode to Mr Rat

Oi Rat!
Don't you think that,
You've been here too long?
Still scratchin' all damn day long.
Still goin' strong.

Hey Rat,
It would appear that,
Youve been chewing wires
Which could start some fires
Don't do that!
Please Mr Rat...

Mr Rat
I can see that,
My loft for you is a home,
Somewhere to call your own.
Living free, without cost or VAT
I get it Mr Rat...

More habit forming than any drug or liquor

I considered myself sophisticated and wise,
but the addictive power of texting
and subsequently sexting
took me by surprise,
and impossible mission to neutralize
despite experiencing scraping rock bottom
as emotional lows courtesy accusations
from the alewife, nevertheless
communication, envisioning, and flirting
with a veritable unknown females
generates testosterone filled highs
diatribes hurled lambasting me
despite trying to articulate
faux convincing alibis.

As pelicans fly by in loose formation

Went searching for an idiom
instead found an axiom
reflecting on a parable
today’s news is mostly terrible

Social structure isn’t paramount
context is what it’s all about
protesters scream stomp and shout
but can’t get the damned spot out

Though yesteryear is a distant memory
common sense is not heresy
so many just want to be let be
live their lives safe and free

Never Free...

Oh, what are you going to do?
The die is cast, it's all up to you.
The message is clear,
you're going to get screwed.

Promises made, not going to be kept,
the deal was sealed, while you all slept.
There was no more honor,
and everyone wept.

Work hard, and pay your tax,
don't fear the "Man's" axe.
You've paid your dues,
now, it's time to relax.

Caftans

Butterfly wings
with many colours
and sparkles.
Floating.
So easy to wear.
Makes me feel
light hearted
and contented.

A recent addition
to my wardrobe,
a necessary one.
I have adapted
to the easy
breezy
piece of clothing.

Caftans,
a statement
of the way I feel
at this moment in time.

Eminem inspired

EMINEM INSPIRED PIECE

monstrous

Not looking for anyone's approval
Opinions fall flat on my ears
Zero decibels heard negativity
Passively passing through me

Just as if you never knew me
I bounce around down with my
Own gig, what happened to fuck
You, live and let live I'm my own
Epic composer, not Chopin

But it licks my wounds and I'm
Consumed bob to the beat of my
Own drum until I'm numb and
Come undone but not completely

Paul

There once was a Paul, so serene,
Whose kindness was truly supreme.
He'd help those in need,
With a heart that would lead,
And his compassion was truly a dream.
